Old White Clock

While heading home from one of my favorite stores (The Home Depot of course!) I stopped at a local yard sale and managed some great finds. One of them was an old wooden clock that I absolutely fell in love with. It needed a little makeover but worked perfectly.
(Left to right: Old Cigar Box, Wooden Clock, Cream Pitcher, Picture Frame)

Even better than finding these gorgeous pieces is that everything was half off. So I got everything for a grand total of $3.50! I love fall but I am going to miss yard sales.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the clock as soon as I saw it. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and I wanted to try out some gold flake that I have had in my craft cabinet but just hadn't had the right piece to use it on yet.

I am happy to say, it is complete! Here is the finished product. I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments below!

Now Following Friday

So I have a bit of a redneck side. I truly enjoy a beautiful dear head on the wall (although I am not much of a hunter). Here is a great product for those of us who are a little country but still like to keep it classy.

These faux taxidermy heads come in a variety of different animals and colors and the option of glitter. I can't wait to get my hands on one. And if you haven't seen it already, check out their feature in Country Living Magazine, page 12 of the October issue.

Fall Activity Jar

I want to start be apologizing that it has been so long since my last post. There have been some big changed in the Curran household and I had to adjust my daily routine a bit. But I am back in action and ready to start blogging again!

It's Fall Y'all!!

I love the colors, the smells, the food, and lets not forget THE DECORATING. Another one of my favorite things about fall is the fun! There are so many kid friendly activities for this time of year. Our family always has a hard time deciding what to first. So this year to make it a little easier and a bit more exciting, we decided to create a Fall Activity Jar.
It was really very simple to create. I picked a couple of fun crafts and activities that our family enjoys and wrote them down on popsicle sticks. I then separated them into 3 categories and gave each a color. Crafts (yellow), activities that can be done at home (orange), and activities that require us go somewhere (red). I picked a proper size jar that I had saved in my craft cabinet (I have a whole bunch that I save from time to time just in case!) and decorated it with some burlap and ribbon.

When your family has some free time, let the kids pick a stick and enjoy!

Now Following Friday

Call me crazy, but I vacuum everyday. I am constantly going through closets and filling bags for goodwill. And lists, I'm always making lists or filling out calendars and trying to stay organized. But, there are two times a year when I do major cleaning and literally go through the entire house and get rid of things we don't need. I truly feel that having too much clutter and junk in my home weighs down my spirit. After a good clean out I feel I can breathe again! There is one blog in particular I love getting tips and ideas on organization from:

Now Following...

From storage, to pantry's, to printables, this girl has it all to get you organized and ready for the coming season. Jen is a stay at home mom to 3 handsome little boys and has made it a point to keep her life organized so that she can spend as much time with her family as possible.
" I also read somewhere that for every minute invested in getting organized, an hour is earned."-Jen.
And I believe it!
If you share in her love of organization like I do, check out her blog and utilize her talents. Spend more time with your family, and less time looking for "stuff"!

New TV Obsession

Obsessed much? Why yes, I am. I have just come across an HGTV show called Fixer Upper. Texas power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines have been renovating homes for more than 12 years and have keen eye for finding homes with that southern charm potential. They just need a little help getting there. Clients are given an option of 3 different houses to choose from and once a decision has been made, The Gaines, get to work taking it from drab to fab! Not only do they have this fantastic T.V. show, but they also have a successful boutique, Magnolia Market, real estate company, Magnolia Realty, and Magnolia Villas, their very own homes. One more thing I absolutely adore about the Gaines family, they have FOUR children! Proof that mom's rock! You can be family oriented and successful. Even cuter, they let their kids come along and help them with the rehabs and decorating. Way to give them that warm, fuzzy feeling of accomplishment, when you finally get to stand back and admire what you have created, early on in life! So if you love family oriented design... Tune in tonight! New episodes are Thursdays 9pm/8pm Central and if you switch over to HGTV a couple of hours earlier (that is if your T.V. isn't permanently on this channel like mine is) you can even catch some of the previous episodes. You'll fall in love too, promise.
